Growth from then to now
In 1995, Ton Zuidema decided to branch out into the agricultural sector and established Total Systems. With his long-term, extensive experience of the mechanical engineering industry, he was able to build up a substantial customer database within just a few years. This growth led to service engineers being taken on at an early stage in the company’s existence, and extra support was also needed in the sales, planning and operations divisions. With the order book filling up, the workforce as a whole expanded, and Nick Zuidema, Ton’s son, stepped up to take a position on the board. By 1999, Total Systems was growing so fast it needed to move, and established new premises on the Nijverheidsweg in Middenmeer.
The purchase of the current building, on the Industrieweg, and the surrounding land, purchased in 2003, marked the start of the construction of a new facility. In 2007, Ron Kramer took up his position on the board and, in 2008, the large facility for stock and assembly was built on newly-purchased land.
Ron Kramer and Nick Zuidema jointly took over the business in 2011. Finally, the current office building was completed in 2012 and with that the circle was round. Total Systems is rock solid.
Everyone involved
Total Systems now has a workforce of around 45 people with a passion for what they do. There is a common mentality throughout the company: passion, daring and a sense of responsibility. Each member of staff is involved in the order process. From the first contact with the customer by the sales representative, the design of 3D drawings in the excellently-equipped drawing room, the collection, procurement and processing of the required materials, right down to the final installation of the machines.
